“KDC performed this challenging project to time, cost and quality, most importantly to the highest H&S standards and in close liaison with the local community."
Project description and key features:
This rubber manufacturing Facility in North Wales was the subject of a manufacturing rationalisation programme.
The Ruabon site is in a logistically demanding area with housing and a river close by and limited road access. Site residues included very hazardous chemicals used in the manufacturing process and the building incorporated an asbestos cement roof.
KDC won Solutia’s competitive tender due to the most advantageous commercial terms and safest methodologies addressing the difficult site location and chemotoxic risks.
KDC employed innovative methods to for contained area working, removing potential for damp ingress and dust exposure for neighbours. RPE work included waste removal to IPCS.
The local community was engaged through letter drops and meetings at the local social club and the works were stopped during Remembrance Day activities.
Finally the location suffered severe winter weather but despite this and the numerous hazards KDC completed the project successfully and further works were later developed on the site.
