Demolition Framework Contract
CLIENT: BP Exploration, Sullom Voe, Shetland Islands
DATE: June 05 to Dec 09
DURATION: 54 months
KDC has established a site based team to carry out this contract.
KDC and BP work together as part of an integrated team to plan for continuous working throughout the year. The framework is a long term commitment by KDC to the site, having commenced these works in 2004, we have maintained our presence throughout.
KDC’s personnel are flexible and operate a cost effective day shift pattern that is appropriate to the remote location of the site. We also supply a range of different plant to cover the various activities we are tasked with such as mobile telescopic cranes, 360 degree long reach demolition excavators, bulker wagons, transport, shears, pulverisers, loading shovels etc.
The work covers a complete range of tasks including production of the management documentation, isolations (air gapping) within live process areas, de-planting of modules and equipment, demolition of redundant buildings and process facilities and the processing and disposal of waste demolition arisings, including metals that are transported off the island (via bulk carrier to Liverpool) for recycling.
These works are all taking place within an operational refinery. They are planned and managed to minimise the potential hazard and suit the operational needs of the site.
