KDC announces £1.7m Demolition Project
KDC has won an exclusive £1.7 million contract to rejuvenate the site of a former business centre in Elstree, Borehamwood.
KDC has been appointed to carry out site clearing, demolition and land remediation work to prepare the site for future development.
Developer, Legal & General Property, has announced that it will invest £10 million regenerating the site with proposals including nine industrial and warehouse units and a new two-storey Wickes store.
KDC will undertake the demolition of several buildings including a six-storey office building and various laboratories and workshops.
Stephen Hardy, KDC Energy, Utillities and Industry Sector Director, will be responsible for the KDC team of demolition experts working in Borehamwood. He said:
“This project is going to transform the area and we’re delighted to be on board. We’ve won this project not only because of our impressive track record for getting the job done safely and effectively, but because of our plans to ensure minimal impact on the densely populated surrounding area.
“The site is close to commercial and residential properties, so we need to do all we can to prevent disruption to the busy local community. Alternative working hours and state of the art dust suppression equipment are just a few of the plans in place to help contain the project and ensure it runs smoothly. We’re on course for a September completion.”
Chris Pearse, Head of Business Space for the Life Fund at Legal & General Property, said: “The redevelopment of the Elstree Business Centre will provide much needed modern, sustainable, trade counter and warehouse space for the area. We are pleased to be working with KDC to ensure that site demolition is undertaken expertly and with a little disruption to the local area, whilst minimising waste output and maximising recycling.”
